World Class Thinking
Posted by: | CommentsAs a coach to individuals and corporations, one of the areas I train on is emotional and intellectual competence. It is self imposed limiting beliefs which trip up our ability to excel. The trick is to identify these limiting thought processes and replace with empowering strategies.
I interact with large numbers of people in my travels around the country. What I’ve learned from observing and working with both average and world class performers is there are two belief systems/languages spoken.
The easiest way to describe it is to share an example. Let’s discuss “Free Enterprise” since this is the focus of this column. Answer these questions in your head: Does the philosophy of self employment motivate or de-motivate you? How do you feel about taking responsibility for your results, no matter what the company you currently work for does or doesn’t do for you?
If you have a self limiting/average belief system, you think free enterprise is only for risk takers. And, you may find yourself thinking, “I have too many responsibilities to take advantage of the free enterprise system.” A world class belief thinker believes that free enterprise is a mindset. Free enterprise means you are free to become wealthy. Free enterprise means taking responsibility for your business life.
Even within corporations free enterprise is at work. How do you think CEO’s get to be CEO’s? They treat their career as if they were engaged in free enterprise, finding ways to provide enormous value and stand out from the crowd. If you are a corporate employee it would serve you well to stop thinking of yourself as a cog in the wheel. Adopt a world class belief system and shine!
Why not live life questioning whether your thoughts are helping or hurting you? There could be so much more inside if you are willing to investigate and reflect. Bloom where you are planted by studying how the world class conduct themselves.
There are many ways to accomplish that. Read books, take successful people in your world to lunch and ask them specific questions as to how they achieved their results. Hire a coach like me!
Exercise Motivation for the Millionaire Moms in Training!
Posted by: | CommentsAre you time-starved, and always on the run?
During my Secret Service Days, I was also time-starved and always on the go, too….
So, I can relate to being crazy busy yet still needing to look and feel great every single day…. and today I’m going to share some of my favorite tips with you.
The more motivation you have, the more you will keep moving! Just in case you need more motivation, or know someone that may need more motivation, I’ve written these 5 more motivational reasons for you to stay super-motivated and always keep moving
1. YOU WERE FLEXIBLE AT 1, 10 and 20 YEARS OLD.
You should also be flexible and limber well into your 60’s and 70’s. Keep this in mind:
Your children deserve grandparents that can play with them; not sit grounded on the sidelines with an “injury.” So, today start moving and keep moving! Those little ones deserve it.
TIP: Before you get out of bed tomorrow, perform 1 set of sit-ups. Each day, add 1 more. In 1 month, your abs will be twice as strong, and in no time you will love your new 6-pack!
2. LOVE HANDLES DISAPPEAR.
Burn calories while consuming less fat and overall calories and you will be buying smaller pants sooner than you can imagine! Here are a few GREAT resources to get you started:

3. BATHING SUIT SEASON
This should always be on your mind. Don’t start exercising the week before, as you won’t get the results you want. Instead, start thinking “bathing suit season is around the corner” in December.
If you program your mind to think “bathing suit season,” you will notice that you’re eating habits will revolve around it! Soon, you lose the temptation for high-fat snacking, and the new YOU will be resisting temptation with no problem.
Here’s a resourceful tip from Katie Ingraham, co-founder of The Healthy Habits Blog:
“Whenever I start to slip a little bit with motivation, I visit www.victoriassecret.com - looking at those models in teeny bikinis is enough to give me the boost I need to keep working hard so I can look and feel my best! No, I will never look like a supermodel, and I know that- but it’s a great motivational tool that keeps me off the couch!”
4. SEXIER, SLIMMER YOU!
Say those words a few times. If that isn’t motivation to start exercising, nothing is! Must Read:
3 MUST READ eating tips for busy people
5. GREAT REASON TO GO SHOPPING!
Buying new bathing suits, shirts, skirts, dresses, and ‘skinny’ jeans. They are even more fun to shop for when we HAVE to get them because all our other clothes are too big- due to our new exercise program.
Lastly, I would like to leave you with the single most powerful question you can ever ask yourself. I learned this one during my Secret Service days. It worked for me and I KNOW it will do the same for you.In a 24hr day, what one of these sound better…..http://www.healthyhabitsblog.com/2009/05/22/motivation-stick-exercise-program/
REMEMBER: 90% of what you eat kills you. The other 10% keeps you alive.

The Keys to Success
Posted by: | CommentsThe first order of business in becoming an entrepreneur is to gain control over your thought process. Our thoughts are truly the only thing we own. Thoughts lead to actions and actions lead to results. Where you’re at today is a direct result of the thoughts and actions of the past. Are you pleased with the outcome? If not, don’t beat yourself up. We all make mistakes. It’s encouraging to know a new story can start right now! Allow the past to be just that. Be present and aware today. This will afford the opportunity for a fulfilling future.
Change the focus of what is associated with pain and pleasure. Instead of, “It will take a lot of hard work to be financially free.” Think, “The time I invest growing my business will pay off exponentially!” Or, consider “What will happen if I don’t start my own business?” Be sure to visualize and feel the emotions of achieving desired goals as if they have already been reached. Every anxiety has an empowering opposite thought. All it takes is a little mental reframing.
It’s not a lack of resources that hold people back it’s a lack of resourcefulness.
The keys to success as an entrepreneur are clarity, persistence and courage. Have a vision for the business. The more defined it is the better the odds of success. Persistence is everything. Too many people quit right when success is at their doorstep. Entrepreneurs are leaders. Leaders are courageous. This doesn’t mean fear isn’t their companion it just means the battlefield is faced in spite of it.
The ingredients for a successful business are not complex. This may sound overly simplistic but cultivate the traits above then find, create, acquire or offer a product or service at a price that allows a profit. What does your customer need and want? Solve a problem. Once started dedicate 80% of time and effort to acquiring new customers and servicing current customers. It is important to measure results. Analyze the numbers. Have at least three metrics you test cash flow against. These will be the drivers of your business.
Thomas Edison said, “If you did all the things in life you were truly capable of, you would literally astound yourself.” I agree!
